Plainfield Dance Academy children’s character work in a story ballet on stage

Ages 3–4

Pre-Ballet, Pre-Tap, Children’s Ballet

Pre-Ballet is the first hour in the building: listening, moving with the music, and learning how a classroom works. Pre-Tap is taught alongside it and builds rhythm and attention. Children’s Ballet, taught by Sonia Garcia, introduces the first classical vocabulary. Dancers learn simple placement, the habits that prepare them for Ballet I, and how to enjoy class.

Progressing Ballet Technique enters as dancers are ready. It supports strength, alignment, and safe preparation for the academy track. Pointe comes later, when the body is ready. Class is taught seriously from age three. Dancers learn studio etiquette, music, and the first classical habits.

Pre-Ballet

First classroom, music, and coordination. For the youngest dancers at the studio.

Pre-Tap

Rhythm and listening, taught alongside the first ballet class.

Children’s Ballet

Miss Sonia. The first classical habits. PBT builds the strength dancers will need in Ballet I.

Call for placement

New families start by calling the studio. Register lists what is open this term. A class needs at least four students enrolled to run.
